My name is Mara and I am currently a graduate student at the University of San Diego who would love to help you with your fur babies! I currently am a dog walker and petsitter with The Zen Pet based here in San Diego with many regular clients. I also train a service dog four days a week! I have a great deal of experience working with animals. I worked at a no-kill humane society for three years as both a kennel attendant and a front desk receptionist for both the kennels and the attached medical clinic. I have also worked at a grooming salon as a dog bather and cleaned stables/rode horses for a barn. Overall, I have a great deal of experience with all breeds, sizes, medical issues, behavior types, etc. I have dealt with many fearful and aggressive dogs and have learned the skills needed to ensure a safe environment for both them and myself. I understand the time and patience many dogs require to feel comfortable and always do what it takes to achieve this. I also have my own rescue dog, Indie, who was originally a street dog in Tijuana, Mexico. She came to me with severe separation anxiety, mange, Lyme disease, and nutritional needs which has made me very knowledgeable on nutrition, medical care, and behavioral training. I have helped her overcome many of her fears and as a result, she has blossomed into an incredible dog. I still put a lot of work into her training and she still has a lot of anxiety and fear with certain triggers, but that is the commitment I agreed to when I adopted her. If your dog is dog friendly then we would love to do joint walks, doggy daycare or overnight visits. I am comfortable with all sizes, breeds, and ages of dogs. I also am very experienced with special needs dogs. I am available all weekends and am free during the weekdays but I do have classes some evenings. I can do early morning, lunchtime and evening drop ins. I will send daily pictures of your pets to you to reassure that everything is going smoothly and that I am doing everything you have asked. I am experienced with giving medication if needed and bathing as well. I am open to any requests!
