I've successfully completed a 6 week comprehensive course on pet sitting taught by a Veterinarian and my practical experience includes 27 years caring for my own rescue cats, as well as looking after the well-being of the cats and dogs of my family, friends and office workplace animal companions. A recent 9 day pet sitting assignment included caring for a 5 month Sphynx kitten -- what a wonderful experience! He had a few health issues while his family was away. The kitten's owner, Veterinarian and I all communicated beautifully, and we worked diligently together to ensure the kitten received the very best care he needed to keep him healthy, vibrant and strong. I picked up and administered the RX prescription from the vet's office and I modified our play sessions to match the kitten's energy levels, so that he got to play and enjoy a lot of fun games but never over-stressing him. By fulfilling the owner's wishes and following all of the vet's instructions, the assignment was a complete success and a joy! In my youth and in my teens, I cared for my family's beloved dog, assisted my grandmother in the care and bottle feeding of puppies from the many Cocker Spaniel litters she raised and I also provided pet sitting, house checks and plant watering services for neighbors when they were on vacation. I do have experience giving daily insulin injections for a senior diabetic cat and also giving daily IV fluids for a senior hyperthyroid cat.
