I enjoy spending time with animals. They seem to have a wisdom of their own. They know how to enjoy life and always seem to be in the present moment.
I have paid experience with taking care of animals overnight. I also take care of many pets. We have 3 dogs, 4 pigs, and 2 parakeets. My brother and I love them very much and they are considered family. We inherited these animals when my mother passed. They comforted her while she battled with cancer. We have taken care of them for many years and are grateful for what they have done.
Our pigs are so intelligent and curious. Our dogs love to be petted as well. The three dogs spend time together cleaning each other and sleeping. Our two younger potbellied pigs sleep together and always welcome some scratches behind the ears and particularly they love a good belly rub. It is the same with our two older pigs.
I have found that building a relationship with animals takes time. In the beginning, building on positive experiences and developing a deep underlying sense of trust. It is thought that animals have episodic memory leading to a sense of self and others allowing them to form relationships that can be developed over time. I do feel that there is an understanding between me and my pets and that we are attuned to each other's feelings. I see the love in their eyes that they have for me and my brother, and they feel that love reciprocated to them each and every day.
