I have experience in the workforce from lifeguarding to military. I don’t have professional experience with dogs, however I have personal experience. My mom did not want a dog while I was growing but she loved animals, so we decided to fill the pet void with 5 cats! Later my step dad joined the family along with his 2 feline companions, making the cat count 7. I was in charge of feeding, and litter box clean up…not fun, but I gained experience in pet care and I loved my cats.
When I got my own place the first thing I wanted was a puppy. I found a corgi puppy, her name is Lucy. I raised her from a pup and had her for a little over two years. Unexpectedly, I wanted to join the military, so I had to leave Lucy with my mom, who spoils her rotten! A few years in the military I obtained a stable job, where I could go home every night. I also was dating a very nice man, and we decided to adopt a rescue border collie, named Sydney. She was a handful, very energetic. I learned through my mom and the internet how to raise a border collie properly. I gave her a “job” which was to jog with me in the mornings. I bought a doggy back pack and she carried our water. She loved it. Our next pet adoption was a cattle dog named zip. My boyfriend always wanted that type of dog because his favorite western movie (Last of the Dogmen) and surprisingly that cattle dog was also named zip. When we got zip, the adoption agency we went through warned us zip was deaf and had been abused, which made him wary of men. That didn’t stop us, and when zip met my boyfriend it was love at first sight. Those two were inseparable. There were challenges with zip, he would try and bite people he didn’t know that approached him. After training him, slowly introducing him to new people, and giving him lots of love he stopped biting. Later, my boyfriend and I split, he of course took zip, and took Sydney. I then received orders to go on a ship, so I took Syd to my mom where she is now spoiled along with Lucy. I was always planning on taking her back, but her home in Colorado is a ranch, basically border collie heaven, so I couldn’t do that to her.
Sorry for the long story, but I wanted to share with you my experience with animals, and my love of animals. Although my professional experience doesn’t involve working with animals, I do have experience in organization, communication, and devotion.I believe that my professionalism and personal experience would make me a good choice as a pet sitter.
