Hi. I'm a 27 year old, fun-loving gal who believes that dogs and cats are one of God's greatest gifts to mankind. Simply, they are family members! My golden retriever is my furry best friend, so naturally, she has a lot of say so in my life. She is the one who convinced me that I'd make an awesome dog-sitter/walker/etc. She said, "Mom, you take such great care of me, and you need to make some extra money to buy me more toys and treats, so why not advertise your skills and experience so that I can have tons of fun meeting new friends?" I figured she had a point.
Growing up as a dog-lover, I chose jobs, such as working at a boarding kennel for dogs, cats, birds, and other critters and volunteered my time to animal shelters as much as I could. Working at the boarding kennel was a high school job of mine, and I enjoyed it so much and my boss must have liked me enough to rehire me after college. Oftentimes the kennel owner would leave town and leave the entire kennel business in my care. On average, I took care of 40-50 dogs/cats by myself, sometimes up to 70 on holidays....Yes, I have started out my Christmas morning by feeding and cleaning up after 70 pets, Whew! I catered to each of their special feeding instructions, medications, bathing, and unique qualities (escape artists, separation anxiety, fear of storms, aggression, etc). I also did quite a bit of house-sitting for family, friends, and even my school teachers (yep, I was always the "teacher's pet"). I've owned dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, rabbits, lizards, and fish.
Currently, my animal-loving husband and I live in Oak Park. We are both online graduate students, but he also works at IKEA in Bolingbrook. Another thing to mention is that Diamond is great with other animals. She wants me to tell you that she loves cats! She is up to date on all of her vaccinations. She sleeps in our bed and on one of our couches that we call "her couch." We never crate her except for longer road trips, but we have both a large and small crate at home which we'd only use for your dog/s if you wanted us to. We take Diamond to the dog park every day that the weather is nice, and we also take her on long walks in our neighborhood. She loves playing in the water at Montrose dog beach too!
