I've been an animal lover all my life and I can't remember a time when I didn't have a pet. I've had everything from snakes to dogs. I raised boys so you can only imagine.
About 1 1/2 years ago I adopted MY first dog (even though I've always been around others). I was finally able to do that because I had bought a house and settled down. I found my girl, DeeDee, at a pet rescue where she had been dropped off with 7 puppies and heartworms. She had travelled from Arkansas to St Louis about the same time I started looking. She had been badly abused, never walked on a leash, didn't know what a toy was, and was especially scared of men and children. Her favorite place was under the bed. We went through the heartworm treatment (which was very hard) and she is now negative. She goes under the bed only to hide from her bath. She had a basket of toys, a dog companion next door and is very well adjusted now. I can't imagine life without her.
I also have two cats and 5 parakeets. My female cat, Penny Lane is 7 years old, and my male cat, Yoda Bear is 6. We've had them both since they were born. My parakeets are Skipper (mom) and the children, Eenie, Meenie, Minie, and Moe. We lost the dad, Snowie, not too long after the babies hatched.
I have volunteered at Tree House Rescue in Dow IL and The Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka Mo.
I have been a Mom and professional for the last 40 years and have decided to retire and do what I really enjoy and want to do through my retirement, and that is working as a nanny and a pet sitter.
My goal as a pet sitter is to give your fur baby (or feather baby) the care that they deserve and give you peace of mind when you are away from them.
