I was a full time and even live in nanny for a family of 5 for over 16 years. In addition to several other responsibilities in those 16 years, I was also responsible for all their pet care needs including obedience training, potty training, setting up veterinary appoints with transportation to and from, administering ointments/medications/treatments, purchasing of all food/toys/and other supplies needed, daily (some multiple) refreshment if food and water, grooming/nail care, cleaning/changing of cages/litter boxes/aquariums/etc, walking/exercise/and play time daily when appropriate, unfortunately final arrangement care/plans, research of desired specialty breed animals (including researching availability/locations/cost/fees/requirements/wait times/national and international transportation needs) submitting required applications, conducting all interviews, confirming dates/payments/arrival times, and maintaining up to date knowledge of needs and care for specific specialty breeds, and so much more. I have always been an animal lover and this family definitely was as well. Over the 16 years, I cared for 8 dogs, 5 cats (my favorite was a stray we rescued off the streets severely injured, he ended up losing a leg but fortunately we were able to save him, and he was just the best companion🥰), 3 birds, 2 turtles, 2 ferrets, 4 guinea pigs, 3 hamsters, a dozen or more hermit crabs, and way too many fish to count! Honestly not the biggest fans of lizards, snakes, etc but otherwise pretty open to most other pets.
