Hi, my name is Sydney Ferguson! I have always been attracted to animals and decided that I was going to be a veterinarian when I was 5. I worked as a veterinary technician for 3 1/2 years until I realized I disliked the way medicine was used so carelessly in animals. Now I am getting my bachelors degree and will be attending chiropractic school to get a degree in animal chiropractics.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association the human–animal bond is influenced by emotional, psychological, and physical interactions that are essential to the health and well-being of both people and animals. I am a firm believer that animals are essential for human health and that there is a positive correlation between the two. Meaning that if you are unhealthy, depressed, and/or in pain more than likely your pet is too. This can be attributed by the lifestyle choices of humans that they impose upon their pets. This includes not properly exercising, eating processed and by-product filled foods, and spends less than optimal time outdoors. If the human makes positive choices then their dogs will reap the benefits of living a balanced life, as humans it is our responsibility to help our animals live healthy and pain free lives through good diets, exercise and preventative healthcare. The ability of the body to heal itself and the idea of preventative healthcare is what drove me to chiropractics. Growing up I always wanted to be a veterinarian, however, when I started to work in the field as a veterinary technician I quickly learned that things needed to change. Too many dogs and cats came through those doors with aliments that could be easily treated and fixed with chiropractics, but instead the animals received medication, surgery, or owners refused to do anything about their pets pain at all.

Upon receiving my D.C I plan to attend Texas A&M University Veterinary College in order to obtain my D.V.M. With this I would like to open my own therapeutic and preventative care practice on small animals using the techniques that I have obtain in Chiropractic college to give pets the life that they deserve to have and to educate owners about the importance of the human-animal bond.
