I grew up with animals which included a cow, horses, dogs, cats and hamsters, and have rescued at least six cats through adoption, and now have three indoor cats. Originally I was going to go to Tufts to become a vet, however, decided against that, since I did not want to put animals to sleep. As a youngster, my parents had to deal with many stray animals "following me home," and unfortunately, could not keep most of them. I have been called an "animal whisperer," since most animals, even anxious, frightened and fer rel types, warm up to me very quickly. I have baby sat for a friend overnight for several days, and they had two great danes and a small hot dog sized female. The great danes, Meryl and Harley were males and weighted about 150 lbs.
