I grew up working in my grandmother's dog kennels till I was twelve years old; we also had eleven inside and outside dogs on our farm property. I've grown up around multiple breeds ranging from Chihuahuas to German Shepherds and Pit Bulls. I worked at the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri as an Animal Care Technician where my duties were everything from feeding and watering to walking and trust exercises. At the Humane Society we had a wide variety of breeds and violent animals. Our job was to care for and rehabilitate our furry friends and help them find a permanent home with a loving family. I have two cats and a mastiff/ german shepherd mix myself. I was taught a variety of techniques on controlling animals and interpreting their needs in order to eliminate bad behaviors and care for them properly with necessary cautions. When I was five years old I was attacked by my own german shepherd and had to get twenty-one stitches and nine-teen rabies shots on the top of my head and for years I was terrified of that specific breed but my 10 month old furry daughter Fraeya has helped me over come that fear by showing me that not all shepherds are the same lol. I also dealt with some very powerful breeds at the Humane Society such as Rottweiler's so I am very confident and in control with large dog breeds. Its all about respect and the proper communication with these amazing creatures and once that barrier is broken the unconditional love and friendship is baffling; there's nothing these furry kiddos cant do.
