I am semi-retired and most recently an HR professional for approximately 27 years. I like to stay busy, but sometimes a little ennui sets in and since I love animals and people of all ages, the extra Sitting money is just an added bonus!

I live in the Asheville and McDowell County areas. I have a home in Black Mountain and my mother's home is in McDowell County. I grew up in the area and graduated from Appalachian State University. I then moved to Gainesville, Ga. which is northeast of Atlanta and managed restaurants, catering for the restaurants, and catering for Road Atlanta racetrack for approximately 5 of those years before returning to Western North Carolina.

Upon returning to North Carolina, I began my career in Human Resources at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa, now an Omni Hotel. The job of a Human Resources professional demands such characteristics as honesty, trust, ethical behavior, confidentiality, and great interpersonal skills with people from all types of age groups, professional, non-professional, educational, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. I have always enjoyed helping people and making people smile and laugh.

I have volunteered for many organizations and held seats of boards such as Western Carolina University Hospitality & Tourism College, the Healthy Buncombe Physical Activity and Nutrition Coalition, Western North Carolina Human Resources Association, and the former Asheville Renaissance Faire.

I love animals and people of all ages. While growing up we had indoor and outdoor cats and dogs, fish, a parrot, an injured dove, mice, and once rooster only because he had been dropped off outside our café and we couldn’t find the owner, so we took it home to care for it. We had a Persian cat, others were your typical country cats. We had a Doberman pinscher, two Great Pyrenees, a Pekinese, a poodle, Jack Russells, and a Yugoslavian mountain dog.

Living on my own, I had Thomas, a Doberman Pinscher, Jasper, a black and tan German Shepherd, and Garcia, an American Staffordshire Terrier, and an orange cat named Tequila, (in college, of course). I have loved animals since I was a small child. Dogs provide such unconditional love, and sense every mood you are in, such as quietening down and being sensitive when you have a stomach bug or bad cold. Amazing creatures they are!
