Tracy’s Bio

Hey y'all! I'm a 34 year old mommy of two: Biscuit is a 12 year old terrier mix & Zoe is an almost 13 year old labrador. I've worked with animals since I was 18. During college, I worked at our local SPCA where we had 20 dogs, over 300 cats, and a motley crew of barn animals. When I graduated college, I went to work for a guide dog school for a few years, working daily with 24-40 full grown shepherds, goldens, and labs (so if yours is a puller, no problem). And for the past 10 years I've worked at a vet hospital for small animals. I'm able to work with dogs of any size & temperament; I have patience with the shy ones & I'll be a goofball with the youngsters. I encourage cats to come out and play or sit by me, but I won't pressure them if they feel they need to hide. I can give oral, topical, or injected medication. I can check insulin levels & administer sub-q fluids. From being in the veterinary field, I see limps, find ticks, and am alert for changes in drinking, eating, or toilet habits. I am also a big believer that "open door, let dog out, check water, let dog in, close door" does not make a visit. Snuggling with an older dog giving belly rubs, pouncing a mousie toy under a blankie or around a corner for a curious kitten, playing ball or going for walks, reading near a scared cat just so they have some human contact, making dinner a scavenger hunt for the finicky eaters, fluffing beds, giving itchy dogs a really good scritchin' behind the ears, laying on the floor playing tugga -- those things make a visit. My dogs are my life, and I always try to treat others' dogs and cats how I would want to be treated if things were reversed.

Pocket pets also are a blast - I've been lucky enough to have ratties, a guinea pig, and hamsters as pets as well. They are more than welcome to stay on their homes or come to "Camp Roksvaag" for a stay.

Just so y'all know, I'm not a runner: walks are walks. :-)

For this pay chart thing, which is a little tricky, I'm defining the "check in / visit" as 90 minutes of kitty bonding time. Plenty of time to scoop box, wash dishes, make new food, meds, and then also have some pawesome bonding time. For the overnight, this is for 24 hours & includes all walks, meals, and meds. If you need me there less, it would obviously be less.

I guess this was long, but I thought you deserve to know that I have not only the ability to do the job, but the passion to do it well. Thanks for your time.
