I spent about 13 years raising two small-breed dogs from when they were eight weeks old to 13 years old. For about half of that time, I worked from home, so I got a daily insight on dog care beyond feeding, bathing, and taking them for walks. As they developed health issues and entered their final years, I also learned how to accommodate the changes that came with old age. I'm a big believer in positive, vocal reinforcement, and customizing pet care to truly engage with each individual dog. One dog may like walking for miles and a lively environment, while another may like short trips around the block then quiet time. My dogs have both since passed over the rainbow bridge, but they taught me so much about individualized care and now, I'd like to share some of that expertise with those who are just starting their journey of pet ownership!
