I've been an avid dog owner since I was a child. I currently have 2 dogs that I adopted when I lived in the Caribbean. During that period of just over a year, I found feral dogs, worked with a local vet to get the animal to optimum health and then found appropriate homes. I interviewed the perspective owner as to their experience, knowledge or interest in 'adopting' a pet. I also maintained contact periodically.
I recently cared for 2 older dogs in my neighborhood. Both dogs were fragile as far as their temperament or health was concerned. I followed the owners instructions as far as scheduling meals, letting them out and giving them the necessary TLC.
I've also worked as a house/dog sitter while the owner was away. This was for 5 days. There were 2 dogs and I attended to their daily needs: meals, exercise and the most important a lot of TLC.
I feel dogs are much more comfortable staying where they live, in more familiar surroundings.
I have an excellent vet and he welcomes any calls I give me. I'm also starting to volunteer at Austin Dog Alliance in Cedar Park.
I would like to add that I am college educated, a mom, and have a very nurturing personality.
