I have had family pets my whole life, dogs mostly (we have three now) and love them as family. Aside from caring for my own pets, I have been a dog sitter and a cat sitter. With the dog, care duties included going on walks, feeding, checking water, and giving necessary medication. With the cats I watched, there was a similar routine with the addition of cleaning and changing litter boxes around the house.
