Hi!
I have plenty of experience with dogs and especially small dogs. I grew up with pets but also have recently (in the past five years) acquired a special knowledge of small breed dogs. I have experience sitting for Shih Tzu's, Poodles, Chihuahua's, Maltese and have my own Shih Tzu who is very well behaved and loves to have another dog in the house to play with and snuggle with.
I am here during the daytime so your dog will get plenty of one on one time and attention both necessary (potty breaks and walks) and quality time (petting, snuggling, playing, treats, the works). My dog is pampered rotten and your dog will be in my care.
I do try to follow the dog owner's instructions and ask that they bring the dog's food and treats to prevent stomach upset by a new visitor dog in the house. I've experimented with this and found the best bet is to stick with the guest dog's home diet to prevent any GI upset.
The main thing I ask of you besides bringing their food is that your dog is up to date on vaccinations and flea free (and in spring/summer on a flea program such as Advantage to prevent flea infestation.) My dog is allergic to fleas and gets sick with the bites so this is very important.
 I have great references that I can send if necessary and have had only good results with the dogs I've petsat for.
My basic philosophy is that pets are in our house to be a PET so they are pampered and loved and we try to give them plenty of things to make them happy. I personally love the doggies we have had and hate to see them go home but know they're always happy to see their pet parent!! I've had many repeat visitors and the dogs always fit right into our home without much problem.
My usual intake is a meeting on an afternoon or evening to let the dogs meet and greet, making sure they get along and let the pet owner ask questions, give instructions and so on. I collect info on emergency contacts, vet info , and the dog's special preferences and dislikes so I'm well prepared to sit for your little one.
