I have owned a dog my whole life and have taken care of the neighbor's dog several times when they are away at vacation or even out for a few hours. Sometimes the dog would come over and stay at my parents house or I would go over every few hours to let the dog out, feed, give company. I do have experience with cats, gerbils, fish, and other typical household pets.
