I started babysitting at age eleven and worked mostly for a minister who had seven children. I was paid 35 cents an hour and was responsible for cooking, laundry and child care. As I got a bit older I specialized in newborn care. I was always overrun with sitting jobs. I raised three children of my own and have four grandchildren. I have worked in nursing homes in both intense twenty-four hour care units and more relaxed care units where you mostly supervised patients, reminded them to take their meds, go to meals, go to bed, etc. I recently worked as a private duty patient sitter where I cared for patients who needed one on one supervision/observation for reasons such as fragile conditions, dementia, having just had brain surgery or being the victim of a serious wreck. I think my care giving experience is quite varied and extensive.
