Meet Mary Clare

I am 22 years old and a first semester nursing student at Wallace State. I currently work PRN at Children's Hospital in the Pediatric ICU along with occasional shifts as a substitute preschool teacher and daycare provider at the Early Learning Center in downtown Birmingham. At the age of 15, I began babysitting children in my neighborhood ranging from the ages of four to twelve, and I even considered pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. I completed my first three years of college at UAB, one in which I explored Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I enjoyed my time digging into education, but I ultimately chose nursing because my passion for science and working with kids will allow me to reach and impact more children as a nurse. In April of 2018, I started working at the Early Learning Center at First Church of Birmingham in downtown and I Read more knew I wanted to help and care for children in a large magnitude in the future, especially in the medial field. I then starting working at Children's Hospital since January of 2019 to acquire more medical work exposure. I love children and my experience in childcare at both an educational and medicinal capacity makes me fit as a caregiver and babysitter.
