Hi! I am a sophomore at Northern Arizona University and I am studying exercise physiology to be a pediatric occupational therapist in the future! I absolutely love children, so this was a great opportunity to do what I love and make some extra money! I have 4 siblings and over the summer watched my baby cousins 5 days a week, so I have a lot of experience with children! Activities I enjoy doing with children… As a nanny, I love keeping things fun and creative with the kids. We build forts, dance, bake, do crafts, and go on little adventures outside. Whether we’re reading, pretending, or just being silly, I always focus on making them feel safe, happy, and heard. My favorite nanny moment… I was helping my little cousin get ready for a nap, and she wanted to put me to bed instead. She tucked me in, gave me her favorite stuffed animal, and whispered, “Don’t be scared, I’ll be right here.” Then she sat beside me and started singing a lullaby completely out of tune but with so much heart. I pretended to fall asleep, and she whispered, “Good job, you're doing great!” It was the cutest thing ever, holding back my laughter was very hard haha! The most important part about being a nanny… Being a nanny is really about building strong, trusting relationships with the kids you care for. It's important to create a warm, supportive environment where they feel safe to grow and learn. Having fun and playing together isn’t just enjoyable it’s also a great way to bond and help them learn new things. You’re also a role model, so the way you act helps shape their values. Staying in good communication with parents makes sure everyone’s on the same page. And since every day can bring something new, being patient and flexible really helps. In the end, being a nanny means offering care, support, guidance and making sure there’s lots of fun along the way.

Hi! My name is Tabitha! I’m currently a freshman enrolled at Northern Arizona University. I’m majoring in psychology to hopefully become a child psychologist or therapist! I have two younger nephews who I love to babysit! I started babysitting when I was around 15, my nephew was about 5. I started babysitting my second nephew when he was around 2. I would usually watch them for 4-5 hours. During this time I often entertained, fed, and helped them. I love helping with math and english homework! I started teaching my older nephew long division before I left for NAU. During my senior year of high school, I took a class called “ROP Careers In Teaching”, this was an internship class. I learned about child development, took a training course for becoming a mandatory reporter, a CPR course, and eventually got to work in a elementary school class. I interned for a first grade class! It was absolutely amazing to work them. It was definitely one of my favorite parts of senior year. In the class, I helped them with their work, read to them, joined them on a field trip, and even taught a few lessons of my own. A few of these students had special needs, giving me a small amount of special needs experience. Working with these kids taught me patience and care. I was also able to go out to recess with them a few times. It was so fun! It was very important for me to provide a safe and positive learning and developmental experience. It is my favorite part of working with kids and babysitting.
