Dear Parents and Caregivers, My name is Adrienne and I live in Goodyear with my husband Ed, our teenage children Ashlin and Sean, and our German Shepherd named Xena and our cat Maggie. In the past seven years I have worked almost exclusively with children, first as a classroom paraprofessional for a local school district, and now as the trainer for all paraprofessionals in the Special Education Department as well as the Inclusion Specialist that assists the coaches for the Special Ed Department in the district. During the pandemic I also worked as a teacher for an online ESL company called VIPKID, where I taught online English, reading, grammar and writing courses to students in China who were 3 to 16 years old. In addition to homeschooling our kids through high school, I have extensive experience teaching early literacy to preschool children and reading and writing to early elementary through Read more high school. I specialize in a combination of phonics activities and sight word mastery to develop early literacy and success in reading. I graduated (a long time ago) from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor’s in English. I have tried different “office jobs” through the years, but always circle back to working with kids because that is where my heart is happiest. I am truly a “kid person” and especially enjoy young preschoolers to older elementary aged children, although I am finding out that teenagers can be fun, too! Currently, I am seeking a lifestyle change from my full time office job with the school district into full-time caregiving. I am available during the week and on weekends. My asking rate is $15/hour for all ages and does not increase with the number of children I'm watching. My promise to parents is that their children will feel loved, be safe, and have fun in a nurturing environment. Whether fun means building forts, playing outside, trips to the park, reading books, or playing with toys together, I want to provide that fun and experience it with them. When a child is having a hard time or a bad day, my experience with my own autistic son and children in my care at the schools has taught me that children who feel safe, secure and loved present less “unwanted” behaviors. However, when undesirable behaviors do occur, I believe in the benefit of restorative choices that bring a child back to safety and calm rather than negative reactions that “fuel the fire.” I have a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, and am available anytime for an interview or meet-and-greet to see if I would be a good fit for your child.
