Hi! My name is Jennifer (although some call me Jaimo). I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, but I have spent the past six years studying and working either abroad or in New York City. I attended an experiential education univeristy that focused on community engagement and solving global issues through a local lense. This journey had me studying in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Australia, and Indonesia. I am somewhat fluent in Spanish and have very basic knowledge of Thai. (I love learning languages and can practice learning language with your child!). After my first year of university, I took a year off to work as a teaching assistant (official title was a Corps Member) at a middle school in New York City. During this job I helped under resourced students reach their full potential by working with small groups of struggling students outside of the Read more classroom. I helped one student raise his reading level from a kindergarten level to a fifth grade level! I also assisted in running an after school program where I developed a science and nutrition club. During this time I also received my CPR certification. From the summer of 2016 to the fall of 2017, I took a year off school to help care for my brother’s daughter, my baby niece. I would coordinate pick up times with her mother and provide consistent all-day and periodic overnight care. My niece, Felicity, and I would enjoy reading together, taking our dog to the park, telling stories, and playing enriching games. That year was one of the most joyful in my life being able to spend so much time with a wonderful and inquisitive toddler! This past May, I graduated from univeristy after writing my thesis on social entrepreneurship using research I gathered in Thailand during the fall. I am back living in Phoenix and am looking for an engaging part-time job.
