I’ve always enjoyed working with children and babysitting because it is such an awesome way to be able to positively influence their lives! It’s so rewarding to be able to nurture their curiosity, creativity, and growth while providing a safe and fun environment for them. Generally, I like being a support for families/parents and babysitting is one way that I’ve found in able to make a meaningful impact. My past experiences with babysitting are with my family members, a 3 year old toddler with autism spectrum disorder, and many infants/toddlers ranging from 6 months to 36mo the old. I babysat my younger cousins (8 and 10 years old) for several years while in high school. I watched them after school (prepared meals/helped with homework) for 5 days a week. During my master’s program in 2021, I babysat a toddler with autism spectrum disorder for 1 year. I spent 2 days Read more of the week with her for 4-5 hours at a time (prepared meals/helped with behavior therapy practices/potty training). During my master’s I was also the in-house babysitter for a parenting and child development lab. During family visits to the lab, I would play with, feed, and put the children down for nap time as needed. Visits would last up to 6 hours. Now, I am in a PhD program studying clinical psychology. I am passionate about supporting families and youth mental health! I enjoy the work that I do in my program with families, but would love to get back to babysitting as well because it is also a rewarding past time for me!
