During the summer of 2020, I had my first real child care experience outside of the "high school" babysitting I had been doing for years. My close friend Lily Beck and I started a Camp we named 'Moof Goof' where the two of us would spend 4 hours every week day with 12 of the most adorable, yet rambunctious group of 3-5 year olds we had ever met. While we were initially overwhelmed with the choir of individual requests, complaints, or curiosities, Lily and I were able to figure out how to very safely take care of 12 kids in a way that was filled with endless summer fun. We would divide the group into 6 and 6, Lilly with her group, mine with my 6- From then I was able to understand the patience required for such a young age, as well as the skill of placing equal priority Read more in each of the 6 I had to watch over. Whether it was the poty, not being a good pal, or missing mom and dad- I learned the hacks of making a child operate with joy, ease, and excitement for the challenges they usually face when with a sitter. I know my combined skills, experience, and personhood, makes me a perfect candidate for parents, but an even better fit for the child!
