I am 23 and I started babysitting with family and family friends at the age of 15; I looked over ages that ranged from 3-13 years. With age, it seems as though I enjoy interacting with kids more and more. It is very rewarding getting to see a child's speech development, behavioral development and getting to be a kid with them at heart. I currently work for a nation wide behavioral therapy company as a behavioral therapist for children with special needs with a main focus in Autism. With this profession, we work with increasing daily living skills and appropriate behavior, while also decreasing inappropriate behavior. I have worked from the ages of 2- 13, both male and female and have had a very rewarding experience with all my kids. As you can imagine, with different age groups comes different levels of motivating fun. As a behavioral therapist, one always Read more must maintain his/her health and energy for playing games like tag or jumping on the trampoline. Although the job is very fun, it also has times where behaviors such as tantrums do occur. I have worked through many different behaviors such as tantrums and aggression (hitting biting, screaming, scratching, etc) with clients and have had extensive training on de-escalating procedures that come with managing aggressive behaviors. Of course, each household is different and I always ask guardians/caregivers first for their preference if ever any such behaviors occurred during my time babysitting. In addition to my work experience with children, I have volunteered at an elementary school tutoring children grades kindergarten to 8th grade on various studies from math and algebra to biology and chemistry. I've also volunteered at the Early Childhood Education Center at my university campus. At this center I worked with babies and toddlers from 8 months to 3 years old. I love working with children and kids of all ages and if needed I am good with cooking, house chores, and homework help. I am a hard worker and love my job with kids. I appreciate any feedback and look for nothing more than to give the kids a fun time, while assuring parents/guardians of their care and safety.
