Since I was in the second grade I have known that I wanted to work with children.  I strongly believe that children deserve the best environment and role models to foster their development.  I have been babysitting since I was 12 years old and caring for children is a passion of mine; as children should have the best possible influences in order to become successful citizens of the future.  With the aid of my education, focusing on child development and behavioral psychology, I believe I can foster the type of environment that is nurturing and encourage a child’s mental and social development.  I have many unique skills as I have tutored children diagnosed with Autism, helping them learn daily living, speaking, peer interaction, and play skills. I have taken two semesters of American Sign Language at the University level. I have studied abroad in Europe and consider myself a cultured Read more and open minded individual.  I have experience as a Nanny for a family with an infant and a toddler as well as for a family with two children ages 6 and 9. (please see child care info). I have worked for the Palo Alto Unified School district as a teacher aide for special education preK-5 grade, as well as at Edgewood Center for Children and Families (non public school and group home). I also have held nanny positions for an infants, toddlers and school age children.   I have experience cooking, cleaning, helping with homework, and projects, as well as playing games and making my time with children enjoyable and fun. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with B.A. in psychology. I am a recent graduate with a MS in Occupational Therapy focusing on working with children with special needs, behavioral management, sensory processing skills, fine and gross motor skills. I am well organized, hard working, have managed the family budget in regards to grocery shopping, running errands, taking children on play dates to the zoo etc. I do well under pressure and with multitasking, I am a team player, flexible and a person of integrity.  I look forward to speaking with you about how I can contribute to your family’s future. Sincerely, Stefanie Thompson

I was so impressed when I read Stefanie's bio, and had such high hopes for her. Thankfully, Stefanie continues to surpass all expectations. Being a working mom is tough for me. I want to be playing with my son, reading to him, making sure he's hitting those developmental milestones. When I started looking for a babysitter, I wanted someone who, beyond just playing with him, would care to help him develop as well during this especially fragile time. I am so glad we found Stefanie, because she is all that and more! She is so attentive, caring, and engaged with our almost 6 month old son. She obviously has a lot of experience dealing with children, and has comprehensive knowledge of developmental milestones and how to help kids achieve them. Every single day she comes in with new ideas for activities - whether it be putting clementines in a jar to develop spatial awareness, encouraging him to splash about with a bowl of water to acquaint him with new sensations, or having him kick a crinkly sheet so he can develop muscles to help him eventually crawl - she keeps him thinking, moving, and learning. He really enjoys his time with her, and as a plus, she gives us ideas on what activities we can explore when we are with him. Aside from that, she is friendly, makes us instantly feel at ease, is always early, and sends me daily updates while I'm at work. She never steps on our toes, and is receptive to any suggestions we have for her. She is so sweet, and such a pleasure to work with. Thank you, Stefanie! You are certainly a gem, and we hope we can continue working with you for years to come. (for anyone thinking of working with her - feel free to contact me for a reference)

Stefanie is a fantastic addition to our family. She is ALWAYS on time and keeps my baby occupied with fun activities. She is a pleasure to have in the house and I can not imagine leaving my 4 month old with anybody else! She comes highly recommended.
