Hi! I'm Mel, and I am studying to become a child life specialist at Western Oregon University. My major is psychology with a emphasis on child development. For a year I worked at a child care center for 0-5-year-olds. Here I worked in the infant, toddler and pre school room. I was also the head toddler teacher, and led a toddler classroom on my own. My job before was as a site director for an after school program for elementary school aged kids. Every summer, I am a camp counselor for Camp Okizu (an outdoor camp for children with cancer and their siblings). In my free time I love to play with my three dogs, do yoga, hike, go to the beach, and explore the outdoors. As a side job, I was a YMCA gymnastics coach for two years and a cheerleading coach for five years. I love interacting with Read more kids and am working towards being a child life specialist so I can help children with life threatening illness and their families.
