My name is Kailan Brooks, and I am a recent graduate of Hillsdale High School in San Mateo, CA. In the fall, I will be attending NYU, majoring in dance and hopefully minoring or getting a dual degree in childhood education or special education. I am a good student who loves school, dance, and working with kids. In freshman year of high school, I was very fortunate to be able to assist dance classes and help lead dance camps with children under the age of 6, and since then I have really enjoyed being able to teach many dance classes to children as young as 2 years old and as old as 15 years old. I also have a regular teaching job, where I prepare lesson plans and adapt to the daily needs of children at my dance studio. I used to tutor kids at the Boy and Girls Club, Read more and a couple of summers ago I led a dance camp there. This summer, I taught several dance lessons to children with autism and have experience working with kids who have other learning struggles. I also took a child development class at a nearby college in my sophomore year and loved it. When interacting with kids, I love hearing their stories, playing games with them, and seeing them learn, laugh, and play. I believe every kid has so much to offer, and it is up to the caretaker to listen and help them grow. My friends and family have described me as loving, funny, kind, patient, responsible, and supportive. I love to dance, bake, tutor, play games, make up games, and do art with kids!
