Hello, I'm currently a part-time mental health clinician with 6+ years of experience working with kids. I started nannying when I was in undergrad. I have experience taking care of babies as young as 5 months old. I was a mentor and academic coach at a middle school for a few years before I joined the Peace Corps as a Youth Development volunteer. I served in Thailand and worked with nursery, kindergartners, elementary, and middle school aged children. I also was a pre-kindergarten before I attended grad school. I absolutely love hanging out with babies and young kids. I love seeing their personalities shine as their authentic selves. I would say I'm pretty good at connecting with young kids, especially shy personalities. I strive to develop kids' confidence in our daily actives and play together. I have many years of experience caring for babies (my mom is a midwife). My Read more most recent experience was caring for two babies from 6 months to 2 years in a share care. I am very familiar with diaper changes, bottle feeding, preparing food, walks around the neighborhood and to the park, reading books, singing songs, play time, nap time, bath time, arts & crafts, homework help, driving to and from activities, and keeping a routine/schedule so that everything runs as smoothly as possible. I am CPR/First Aid certified for infants, children, and adults. I am a licensed driver, and I am willing to travel within 15 miles for work. I also love animals and have had a few jobs as a sporadic dog nanny as well. As for house duties, I am more than willing to run errands and clean, as well as do some light cooking. Alix cared for our 1-year-old for one evening in December 2016. She was very pleasant, soft-spoken but articulate and forthcoming, and very sweet to our son. She has also been very reliable -- arrived on time, followed instructions, responds promptly to messages. The only reason we haven't had her back since December is that we don't hire sitters very often, and the days we most often need conflict with her current class schedule. However, based on that one experience, we would definitely hire her again, and we would not hesitate to recommend her to other families with young children.
