Hi! I'm Neil, a preschool teacher’s aide. You’ve already noticed I’m more male than most sitters- but then so is every well-loved daddy and grandpa you’ve ever known! And I’m older, but that’s what experience looks like. With it comes mature judgement, no drama, and a fully developed sense of responsibility, characteristics you’ll want in a sitter. Babies and small children are quick to warm to me and feel safe when I’m with them. I think they sense the daddy and the grandpa in me. My calm, quiet nature, combined with a gentle voice, puts them at ease. And when they need a little extra, I’ll rock them, walk them, sing quietly to them- whatever it takes to comfort them. I love reading to children, and I bring a special bag of books with me when I come to a home or school. I always try to make stories come Read more alive, reading expressively and creating voices for each character! Children’s earliest years are very important. Gentleness, kindness, empathy, and personal responsibility are some of the character traits that can positively shape children’s personalities for a lifetime, but those traits must be cultivated while they are little. CHILDCARE EXPERIENCE For me, childcare has been an early and lifelong interest: 🔹For the past 3 years, I’ve been working through a staffing agency as a substitute preschool teachers’ aide, caring for children 6 weeks through 5 years old. 🔸I’ve spent 7 of the past 18 months in infant and toddler classrooms! 🔹Taught elementary children’s Sunday School at church for 29 years 🔸I worked on an inpatient pediatric hospital ward with children from newborn to age 12 🔹At 16 years old, taught a 2&3 year olds’ Sunday School class for a year and nannied a 6 month old baby girl for a summer 🔸Babysat for friends and neighbors from age 10 through my teens and into college ▪️My wife and I have been married for 41 years! Together we raised our 4 children, 3 girls and a boy, from infancy to adulthood, and then cared for our little grandchildren while their parents worked. Three girls and a boy, they are 10, 8, 6, and 19 months old today. SPECIAL NEEDS: I’m comfortable with medically fragile children and those with physical, developmental, or behavioral special needs. 🧩 Certifications or Special Skills: 🔺Currently certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR 🔺Currently certified in First Aid 🔺Completed 8 hr class in Child Safety 🔺Worked more than 6 years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

My husband and I have trusted Neil to watch our 2 year old since he was a baby. We have known him for 5+ years and he is the kindest, gentlest man. Very attentive, reliable, and trustworthy. His many years of experience with children make him the most qualified candidate in my opinion. He also has extensive medical experience which was crucial to us. Our little guy was born with a cleft palate and had severe airway issues. He has a G-tube. There are very few people I trust to care for him, even for a few hours and Neil is always my first choice. I highly recommend him!
