Meet Vicki

  • Special Education Certification
  • Has a car

I have worked with children from infancy through high school for more than 22 years. I have also worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District for over 18 years in the Special Education Dept. as a BII. A BII is behavior intervention for children with special needs. I currently work in an elementary school with individuals or groups of children that have challenges that are behavioral and emotional, and I work in the general education population with children with special needs. I have been able to work with all types of children in different situations and settings. I service several students who need extra help in the Resource Department as well. I am pretty well qualified when it comes to the needs of children, and I have a lot of patience. I have an A.A. degree in General Studies and a B.A. in Humanities. Working in the Special Education Department has taught me Read more a lot of patience and behavioral modification skills among other things. I know certain behavioral skills that work in Special Education that can work just as a effectively for children who aren't in special education. In no particular order I like to read, go on walks, sing, play board games, and listen. I like basketball (Warriors) and football (49er) too. I like biking, pizza, Chinese food, Thai food, Trader Joe’s sparkling water and Yogurtland. I also like fast paced action packed movies, dramas, great musicals and instrumental contemporary jazz concerts. Warm nights, gentle breezes and great friendships are important parts of my liking as well. My faith in God and Christ is how I live. I checked that I am uncomfortable with pets, but I am not uncomfortable but allergic. I am more allergic to cats than dogs, so I may consider a house with a dog depending on the type of dog. I do take allergy medicine. Also, I am only available for part-time work not full-time. I am presently working for LAUSD M-F and will not be available until after 3:30 p.m. until June 10, 2022. I usually do not work in the summers, but will consider it. I will need time off at some point in the summer because of the nature of my regular job that starts back the 2nd week of August. When I do start back to my regular job, I will be open for part-time work T/W/TH (3:00-7:00 p.m.) or M/W/F (3:00-7:00 p.m.) M/W/F schedule is available only if your child/children are in the LAUSD system. (I would like us to be on the same schedule.) I also have T/TH (3:00-7:00 p.m.) open.

We were very fortunate to have Vicki as our babysitter! She has helped us out tremendously during the past few months while I went back to work and before our son (8 months old) started daycare. She was always very accommodating to our schedules. Vicki watched our son with great care and patience, always keeping him busy with play, reading books, feeding, etc. I always felt at ease knowing he was in good hands when he was with her. Thank you so much Vicki! We will definitely keep in touch with you.
