I started babysitting when I was 12 as a mothers helper with a 1 year old, feeding her, reading to her, and playing with her. I have done some miscellaneous jobs for parents at the church that I go to. I also babysitting for my neighbor's two little girls, one of whom has a speech impediment. I played, watched movies, and fed the girls. I performed basic chores like vaccuming, dishes and cleaning the kitchen. More recently I have babysat a 5 year old girl with cerebral palsy. I did a lot of things for her like feeding her, reading to her, playing with her, and helped train her to use the bathroom. I would also take her to doctor appointments, using her mothers car, learning more about her condition to better care for her, to help her learn how to walk, and to be able to facilitate learning. It Read more was an incredible learning experience and it was a joy to watch her grow! This past summer I interned at a CURE International hospital in Uganda. This hospital specializes in neurology, and I was very involved with infants and children with hydrocephalus and spina bifida. I assisted with initial appointments, physiotherapy and I spent a lot of time playing with the kids.
