Hello! My name is Kelly Helton. I am a current college student/athlete looking to help families with occasional babysitting. Most of my childcare experience started sophomore year of high school. Starting then, I worked for a family who lived in my neighborhood with evening babysitting along with other duties around the house including cooking, laundry, dog walking, and other varying chores they needed help getting done. Their children were between the ages of 1-7 during my time with them. After I graduated from high school, they needed more help and I worked as a part time nanny for them for 3 days a week during the summer. I dropped off/picked up from school, camps, and accompanied them to other summer activities. Most of their parenting style followed a philosophy known as RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers), which I took a course on prior to nannying, making me RIE certified. This Read more gentle parenting style focuses on treating infants and children with respect and acknowledging them as unique, separate people. Since my certification, I still base most of my care and outlook on children around the RIE method. This family has since moved to another area but it was a pleasure working with them! I have always had a love for working with children and would love to help where I can!
