Hello! My name is Viola and I'm a student at UCSB studying Geography with an emphasis in GIS. My interests lie specifically in biogeography and geomorphology. I'm originally from Granada Hills, CA where I grew up as the youngest of four in a Hungarian household. In my free-time, I really enjoy swimming, doing arts and crafts, cycling, baking, and reading in my hammock. I'm really passionate about the outdoors and work for the Adventure Programs department at UCSB. I recently completed my WFR (Wilderness First Responder) certification. I started babysitting back when I was 14. I worked for a family watching their 4 year old twin boys and their 10 year old daughter. I have always really enjoyed spending time with kids; their energy, creativity, and curiosity about the world is so vibrant and contagious. To me, the most important part of babysitting is interacting a with a child, encouraging Read more them to participate in activities or try new things rather than sitting them in front of a screen. Growing up, my mom invested a lot of her energy into making activities for us, taking us to new places, and allowing us to express our creativity and curiosity. I look back at moments from my childhood as some of my fondest memories and I have my mom to thank for being so hands-on. What I really appreciate about her approach is that she didn't just focus on keeping us entertained; she focused on fostering our curiosity and helping us grow as individuals. Her genuine interest in our interests and her willingness to try new things with us created a strong bond and a sense of excitement about life. As a babysitter, I want to replicate my mom's model of care.
