I was a preschool teacher for 6 years in a well-known licensed preschool. I was in the infant room for 4 of those years. Licensing allows 2 teachers for up to 8 babies, so I am comfortable and competent in my abilities to care for multiple young children and infants at a time. During this time I was taught how to feed and care for a baby with a cleft palate. I was a nanny for 3 children (ages 4 months, 6 and 12) for two years until the family had to move. I was a regular sitter for a child who was non-verbal and diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have experience with children who have Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, Intellectual Disability, Cognitive Delay, Speech Delay, Sensory Processing Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, minor Cerebral Palsy, ADD/ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, Tourettes Syndrome and children in Gifted Programs and I also know some Read more ASL. I have a 8-year-old son who is in a special education class full-time and understand how difficult and stressful it can be to find the right person to care for our children. I also have a very vibrant and busy 2 year old and a happy 6 month old. I love children and teaching and feel confident and comfortable taking care of children whether they are differently-abled or not. I understand the importance of schedules and consistency, dietary needs or restrictions and adhere to any other special instructions parents will share with me. My husband and I were youth leaders for 2 years for pre-teens and teenagers before we moved in 2011. But beyond all that I just love having fun with kids, playing games, doing art projects and whatever else fascinates them and makes them happy.
