In my most recent work experience I have had the opportunity to learn a tremendous amount about working closely with the developmentally and physically disabled population in Long Beach. Specifically, I have become well versed in the dynamic and complex issues many people with disabilities face in regards to the difficult yet rewarding task of securing competitive community based employment. I have gained a solid understanding of appropriate and significant guiding principles of working as a regional center service provider and how those principles contribute effectively to the success of young adults with disabilities, as they make the significant transition from school to work. I have taken every opportunity to attend training and seminars in an effort to expand my knowledge, and what innovative approaches are being implemented in other agencies and coalitions in an effort to instill best practices to my work. I have a current, valid CPR and Read more First Aid Certification for infant, children and adults. Additionally, this Fall 2015 semester I have enrolled in two prerequisite classes (Educating Exceptional Children and Educating Diverse Learners with Exceptionalities) in order that I might continue my education, working towards a special education teaching credential at California State University Dominguez Hills. I am confident that these courses have given me a better understanding of the dynamics of special education as well as practical tools and pedagogical theories, I am eager to learn more by putting this information into practice in the classroom. As my chosen education and previous career indicates, I am a person who cares very much about the well being of all types of people, especially children. I have experience volunteering in classrooms as well as babysitting. I am confident I would be a suitable candidate for this position due to the unique combination of my previous work experience, my current educational endeavors and my compassionate, responsible and fun loving personality.
