Babysitting was my first job. I never got to be a big sister and I think I was trying to fill a void :-) I have worked as an on-call babysitter for an agency, as a private babysitter, as a caretaker for adults with extensive needs, and as a pet sitter. I have a Master's in Social Work with a school social worker endorsement and professional educator's license in Illinois. A lot of good that does me here, but at least I don't have to deal with snow anymore and I can have time for creative endeavors :-) I have co-written and performed social issues theater in schools as an actor, served as a camp counselor, and provided play therapy for a child with autism. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing, and I tell very animated bedtime stories. Since I have worked with children, in schools, and Read more in child welfare, I am mandated reporter (meaning I am obligated to report the abuse of children and elderly individuals) and I have completed mandated reporter training. I have been trained in non-violent crisis intervention (how to protect myself and others while intervening during potentially dangerous incidents). I have also been CPR certified multiple times and working in elementary schools also means I have been background checked from here to Timbuktu (which I hear is lovely to visit between November and February).
Trust & safety
We encourage parents to conduct their own screenings using the background check tools. See what each of the badges covered, or learn more about keeping your family safe by visiting the Trust & Safety Center.
