Hi, I am a former LAUSD teacher (over 10 years), turned stay at home mom. My kids are in 4th and 6th grade. Recently I started doing long-term teaching assignments at a local private catholic school. These past 2 years I completed 3 assignments: 3rd grade, transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, and was just starting a 4th grade contract until the quarantine hit. Now all schools are out. I found that I really loved transitional kindergarten and I have quite a bit of material from that period. In between these long-term assignments, I babysat/tutored a 4 1/2 year old and helped her get 'kinder ready'. We focused on small-motor coordination for writing, phonemic awareness, the alphabet - particularly sound/symbol relationships, art, numbers sense, pre-reading and pre-writing skills involving sentence building, and much more. She eventually got in to a full-time preschool. I babysit for a teacher colleague as well. Her child is Read more just 6 months and I thoroughly loved it! I really like doing this kind of part-time work. I have a strong work ethic and always am conscious of creating a tone and environment of balance, harmony, and respect whether it is whole group, small group, or individually. Kids need different approaches and I enjoy ‘looking between the lines’ and discovering each one’s uniqueness to tailor and differentiate. I think that in my current stage in life, babysitting/nanny, and tutoring work is perfect for me
