When I was out walking our family dog at 11 years old, a neighbor and her toddler stopped me on the street and asked if I’d be their mother’s helper. I cared for MJ for the next 7 years until I went to college and the family moved away. When I was a teenager, I became the neighborhood babysitter. Over my 18 years of babysitting experience, I've had the privilege of caring for a 3-month-old infant, toddler twins, elementary school age kids, preteens, and most recently teenagers! I cannot express the joy this work gives me. The feeling of creating a little more ease for parents, a little more care for kids, and a little more happiness for the family feeds me on a deep level. I’ve always been very interested in learning how to communicate with children in a way that makes them feel understood, heard, encouraged, motivated, dignified, Read more free, soothed, and safe. I also understand the great responsibility of caring for kids while parents are out. I can't imagine how unnerving it must be to leave your kids with a stranger! I see my job as a babysitter as creating a protected, safe, and loving environment so that children can be children - learn, play, share, and grow. And I see myself as being that person to relieve a parent(s) of stress so that they can do what they need for themselves to return to their kids feeling refreshed, revitalized, and ready to go. When kids are in my care, I do everything in my power to allow parents to feel secure knowing their children are safe, happy, and in good hands.
