I must have been born with natural maternal instincts because I can trace my love of children all the way back to my own childhood...spending "church" in the nursery instead of the pews; always wanting to hold babies and surprisingly being able to make them stop crying or put them to sleep with ease. Even my high school best friend's mother would not let her drive the family car with her younger sister in tow, unless I was at the wheel. I've always been the caretaker with family and friends. In college I nannied a beautiful girl - Kari - born at just 27 weeks...she was the daughter of a Pro football athlete and he said I was the first applicant she had crawled up on in the weeks during their nanny search. She had cerebral palsy from her hips down, glasses at 9 months, other challenging health issues and Read more yet the most remarkable cognitive function I've ever witnessed in a child. When she started speaking, she began reading and singing all the songs and books we had ever read to her - verbatim - at just 2 years old. I loved her so much - it was difficult to leave her even after I graduated. Her mother also had 4 sisters who all lived 15-20 minutes away from each other, and who all had kids at the same time more or less. So I became the family nanny/babysitter with my primary care duties dedicated to my live in family with Kari. After college and in between professional career moves from Public Relations to Restaurant General Management, I nannied/babysat 2 girls for another former football player (coincidence) - 14 months and newborn for more than 4 years. I am an avid cook with firm foundations in natural and sustainably sourced foods and home prepared meals. I have returned to LA to help care for my niece and nephew, while I pursue my own business. And as I mentioned, I LOVE to cook, so meal planning and preparation are right up my alley as well. I believe in peaceful and structured childcare, always allowing each child's individuality to bloom. I love educated play while keeping the creative and imaginative spirit alive in each child. As well, open communication with parents, understanding family dynamics and expectations is of utmost importance to a successful relationship.
