Hello, My name is Lauren and I am returning to Sittercity with the hopes of expand the skills I have to work on a Pediatric Unit. I just graduated from nursing school at Loyola University of Chicago. Since I left high-school I have volunteered in both hospitals and nursing homes in California where I grew up. My specialty unit I worked on were on before moving to Chicago was in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Burns, Psychiatric (mental-health), and Telemetry. During my nursing program I completed my rotations in the NICU, PostPartum, Labor & Delivery, Med-Surg, Pediatrics at Shirley Ryan, and Geriatrics. When working at Shirley Ryan I never thought I would enjoy working with children as much as I did. Seeing their faces every morning despite what they were going through always brightened my day. I loved having them around and teaching them not only about school but with Read more their own self. I would love to start babysitting again so I can hone in on my skills. After college I worked with mentally disabled transitioning adults (ages 17-23). For two years I worked in a program that helped them be functioning adults in the world. We would take them on trips to grocery stores, movies, parks, plays and meetups with other students in the same programs across LA County. As a Substitute Aid I assisted the teacher with daily activities, writing out programs that every student could partake in and joining them in their physical activity classes. These students were like my brothers and sisters that I knew I needed to take care of. We gave them every opportunity as any other student should have. I would baby sit family members, and family friends throughout the years while working and going to school. I'm hopeful to find a family that lets me utilize my teachings to be a positive role model for your child/children.
