Hello, my name is Laila Sheikh! I am a San Francisco resident. I am also currently a college freshman at St.Mary’s College in the East Bay. To truly illustrate my experience in childcare, I would like to start out by mentioning that I come from a massive family with many toddlers. So in that sense I have always been accustomed to being around children and caring for them. Additionally, during my senior year, my high school partnered up with a mentorship program called Eye to Eye. Eye to Eye is specifically catered to children with learning differences. I had the privilege of being a mentor to two bright and wonderful middle school children with ADHD. Eye to Eye mentors use learning based art projects to connect with their mentees. Currently, I babysit for a family ten minutes away from my college. I babysit for them about once a week on school nights. They have two lovely girls ages four and eight. I have been babysitting for them since January. I don’t have class on Fridays and I come home every weekend.
