When I was nine years old, my mother, who was at that time working twelve-hour shifts at the hospital as a nurse, gave birth to my youngest brother. I knew I loved children before, but when I saw him at the hospital for the first time as his little fingers wrapped around mine, I suddenly wanted nothing more than to protect him and do everything in my power to make his life comfortable and happy. As my mom was still busy with work after her maternity leave ended, I stepped in and took care of him, gaining lots of infant experience, but I didn't stop there. I volunteered to take care of the infants at the church we were attending at the time, and after we moved to California, I stepped into the role of caring for the preschoolers and teaching Sunday School to the elementary and middle schoolers. I Read more continued doing this all throughout high school and worked at a sports camp for children the summer before my junior year (during which I gained a CPR/First Aid certification) teaching tennis to the older kids and other games to the younger ones. Now I'm here in Colorado for my gap year before heading off to college, and I'm eager to continue growing my skills and love for childcare while I'm here. I look forward to working with you and caring for your children as best as I can!
