I previously worked at UCLA Jumpstart as a corps member. The position allowed me to attend a local preschool in the Culver City area where I had 2-3 partnered children. During my visits, I implemented sessions that helped the children with their literacy skills in order to prepare them once they enter kindergarten. The various activities ranged from Book Center, Art Center, Science Center, and the Writing Center. An example of an activity done in the art center was teaching the children about the primary colors and explaining/ demonstrating to them how to mix them in order to make other colors from the rainbow. Having had the opportunity to work with a diverse group allowed me to be abel to understand each child through the learning interaction that I had with them during each center. I also had the opportunity to go outdoors and be able to interact with them Read more through various activities such as playing with blocks or helping them solve puzzles. My job allowed me to be able to sit down with them during their lunch and snack time which is where I helped them serve themselves their food as well as distinguish between the proper manners that one uses at the table.
