Meet Hope

  • Comfortable with pets

Hey! My name is Hope and I am a Bay Area transplant working in the film industry here in LA. I am the youngest of six children, so I grew up in a lively and busy house and was an aunt by the age of 13. I was a very active child, involved in theater, multiple sports, leadership, Girl Scouts, and more. I personally understand the value of enrichment as well as relaxation and recuperation time very well. As a professional, I have been a part of the IATSE Local 728 Lighting Technician's Union since 2019, though work has been slow the last few years, hence why I'm turning back to childcare both to make some necessary income and to spend time with kids again. Aside from some babysitting and nannying in high school, I nannied full time during the pandemic (can provide references), for a newborn and 3 year Read more old, as well as a family with three kids, ages 4, 6, and 7 who were in zoom school at the time. I stopped working for both families when I graduated and moved to LA, but we still keep in touch. In college, before the pandemic, I worked in the Recreation department on campus at UCSB helping students explore the natural beauty around Santa Barbara. I underwent a full year of risk reduction and outdoor management training, which included First Aid and CPR training. I would be more than happy to take a refresher course upon finding a family as well. I really love spending time with kids, and find it best to treat children like (mostly) rational humans you can level and reason with (to an extent, of course). A lot of the times, a tantrum can stem from not being heard or not having a need met that sometimes hasn't been communicated. This is when the ability to make a child feel safe and heard is tantamount, so that the root of the issue can be addressed. Of course, I prefer most of the time I spend with kids to be positive. I love being able to nurture the child in me, and I don't find typical children's activities mundane or boring at all (hide and seek, coloring, tag, backyard exploration, homework, baking and science projects). I also have a clean driving record, valid license and a registered and insured car of my own. I enjoy taking kids to new places, like museums and beaches or even to the grocery store, as much as I enjoy hanging out at home. I hope I am able to find a family I can become a support pillar for sooner than later, and am more than happy to connect and answer any questions or concerns either in person or over the phone/ voice chat.
