Hello! My name is Ella and I have been working with children in a wide range of capacities for over 10 years. I am a recent graduate from the University of Oregon, with a degree in International Studies and a French minor. My grade school and high school years were spent at East Bay Waldorf, then later at San Francisco Waldorf. I currently live in Oakland, California, where I spend my free time cooking, dancing, and doing yoga. During the school year I work for Seneca Family of Agencies in an enriched counseling classroom in Hayward. Here, I work with children ages 7 to 12, and support them in building on emotion regulation strategies and interpersonal skills. In summers, I am a camp director Cal Blue Camp, a multi-sport camp in Berkeley. Here, I work with typically developing children, ranging from ages 7 to 13. My work at Blue Camp, Read more however, has been primarily within the social skills track, where I've facilitated inclusion of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder into the larger summer camp program. I have worked both one-on-one, as well as in larger groups, with children on the spectrum, teaching social skills, affect regulation and problem solving. As a sitter, I love being outdoors, drawing, painting, and finding new and fun ways to create. I am constantly inspired by the creativity and imagination of children. I am deeply touched by their capacity to demonstrate compassion and understanding for one another, no matter their differences. For me, childcare is not only a job, but also an opportunity to learn from the children I'm looking after. I am passionate about discovering and nurturing the unique strengths of every child, and setting them up for success so that they themselves may feel inspired and empowered!
