Apple Seed Daycare A little about myself and family… I have lived up on the Paradise/Magalia Ridge since 1998, where I moved from San Francisco. I have been working in and around children from zero to 14yrs old over 15 years now. My experience has been through exempt daycare to licensed and onsite schools for being a teacher’s aide and/or after school programs. My education background is an AA in Social Behavioral with an emphasis in Administration of Justice and Early Childhood Development. My husband is originally from Southern California and moved to the area in 1999. We have 2 boys together; a 13 year old and a 5 year old. My husband used to be a fire fighter for California Department of Forestry and Fire. He has been supervising Feather River Hospital Laboratory for over 6 years now. I used to work in social services with non profit organizations Read more as well as Butte County Office of Education in after school programs. I have chosen to stay at home with our youngest due to his need for breathing treatments. We have 2 birds, 2 dogs and our cat. My family and I love the outdoors and try our hardest to always be in it. My philosophy for childcare is an at home feeling for all children where we engage in play whether its inside or outside. We have many toys to climb on, sit in, ride on/ride in, dig, throw outside and our inside play area has lots of fun toys plus learn to grow toys, puzzles and books. Children 0-2 yrs get to engage in play time activities, learning growth skills, sharing techniques and motor skills. For toddlers age 3-5 years I engage them in a kindergarten readiness program, where the child gets to make and learn numbers, letters, shapes, colors, the weather and how to write their names. For school age children, I assist the children in homework help time and study with kindergartners with Zoo phonics, reading books and other kindergarten requirements. I believe in the diversity of parents raising their children how they see fit, however I do not embrace corporal punishment. I strictly stick to effective communication not only in my own raising, but within my daycare. I believe talking with a child has a larger impact on future relations as he/she grows. I only use time out when needed, but rarely have had to use it. My family and I look forward to having your family join us here at Apple Seed Daycare. Welcome!
