Hello, my name is Lis. I’m 27 years old and a San Diego native. I’ve been nannying/babysitting for more than 5 years (on and off) but have been doing it consistently/full-time for the last 2 years. In 2020 my fathers health decreased rapidly and was later diagnosed with terminal cancer. I chose to pause my career in physical therapy to care for him. Like all of us, I had to make ends meet and so I began nannying as it allowed me to have a flexible schedule and income. What I didn’t expect, was the fulfillment I found in guiding new little humans on a day to day basis. Witnessing their conscious development as they take in the world around them thru an unadulterated lens. Anyone who has experienced care-giving for a dying spouse or parent or loved one understands the emotional toll it takes. For months I felt as Read more though I was on survival mode, but on the days I was able to care for children it was like an injection of the joy and hope I was short of during that painfully difficult time. While some may find caring for a child challenging or overwhelming, for me there is only few things that feel as rewarding as being able to teach children. Working with infants has taught me that their learning begins at home and in infancy. Because of hardships I’ve experienced, I’ve made it a priority to learn, unlearn and cultivate practices/habits with the intention of being a better human being. Children force us to face ourselves. Our lack of patience, our lack of understanding or perhaps our ineffective communication skills (at least for myself lol) However I have also come to see that when we (the village) guide children with an emphasis on emotional awareness and we humbly lead with kindness, they are better equipped to face the inevitable challenges of life. That is why I love what I do and what makes me personally qualified as a child care provider. I’ve had the privilege of experiencing great mentors but I’ve also had to navigate instances where the guidance of someone would’ve been so fruitful. I believe my purpose lies in being a resource to everyone around me, most specifically children. As for my professional qualifications, I received my bachelors in Kinesiology and am AED & CPR certified. I can provide at least 3 references as well. I am fully vaccinated and can show proof of vaccination if needed. Wishing you the best of luck as you continue your search for the ideal childcare provider for your family!
