My experiences are: OCT. 2011 - OCT. 2012: Encuentros Leadership at Palomar College - This program works with several different colleges and businesses to provide college and career information for middle school and high school Latino boys. This program also has a set schedule so that students are able to be motivated to go to college and to enjoy their time. - They specifically focus on Latino boys because this specific cohort has the highest amount of high school dropouts. - In order to provide more motivation and real life college experience, this program actively seeks college students to volunteer. I volunteered to be a College Mentor; as a College Mentor, one is responsible for watching a group of 12 - 16 students throughout the entire program. I made sure that my all my students were present at a specific location and answered all their questions. FALL 2013 - SPRING Read more 2015: Foothill Oak Elementary School at Vista, CA - At this school, the majority of students learned Spanish as their first language. Because of this, it also means that there is a high correlation of students who don't know an ounce of English. - For this, I worked closely with Ms. Gelrud and her first grade class. My first year of working with her, she had a class of 12 students. During my second year, she had a class of 13. I read with the students at an individual level in order to reinforce the lessons Ms. Gelrud taught. Because I worked with the students at an individual level a couple times each week in the morning, I was able to see who needed the most attention. However, I make sure to work with each student. JUL. 2015 - PRESENT: On-Call Personal Nanny at San Diego, CA - Keep mother updated about the status of her children, one set of 1-year old twins and an 8-year old boy - Feed the twins with homemade meals and change their clothes or diapers when needed - Watch the 8-year old boy while taking care of the set of twins PERSONAL: I am the oldest of 4 children; my parents are divorced so I have 2 stepbrothers and 1 brother who I grew up with. Brian is 24, Jonathan is 23 (I grew up with him), and Dakota is 15. While Dakota was growing up, Jonathan and I helped our mother take care of him. I recently graduated last year with a Bachelors in Human Development with an emphasis on Children's Services. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Biology.
