I have worked a part time seasonal job as a Playcare Attendant in the Joan Kroc Center in La Mesa for four years. I've worked with children 6 months to 8 years old. As a Playcare attendant our main goal is to maintain a safe learning environment in which we enable children's social, physical, and intellectual growth. I've enjoyed being a part of these children's lives watching them grow up. It's rewarding knowing that the children can learn so much from you and they know that you are someone they can trust. Working with their families has also been a blessing, I am a very social person and I love making families feel welcome. During college I worked at the Student Health Center Pharmacy and was a babysitter for two of my coworkers. One of the children I have watched since he was 4 years old and now is 5 Read more and a half, I would pick him up from day care and take him to his after school activities then home. I would also babysit him some nights when parents went out. The second child I babysat was 4 and a half years old, I would babysit on emergencies when mother was called in to work and also on nights when the parents wanted an evening out. Thankfully I've been able to also watch over my nieces and nephews when I was back home from college, I understand how important it is to give them attention to help them develop and grow. Creating crafts and activities is something that is key to keeping children active and happy. I would rather invest money and time into these things then having a child playing video games all day. I also understand that there are different parenting styles which I have respect for.
